Quicker than email and more convenient than a phone call, it’s become commonplace. But it’s not always the best choice.

Choose to text message for simple notifications or reminders like “I’m running five minutes late,” or “Remember to bring the report.” As a general rule, consider texting only appropriate for a maximum of two messages -- one message and one reply.

Here are five rules to avoid a text message business blunder.

1. Keep it positive.

Like email, the tone of a text message can be misinterpreted by the recipient. Quick messages can make you come off as flippant or harsh. Instead of staccato phrases, write complete sentences. Add polite touches like “please” and “thank you.” Re-read every message before pressing send to double-check your tone (bonus: no embarrassing typos).

2. Avoid serious topics.

You wouldn’t break up with your girlfriend over a text message -- to be clear, you should not -- and the same goes for business. Never give negative feedback or fire someone via a text message. Any serious conversation should take place face-to-face. It allows for subtle interaction through facial expressions and will ensure clear communication.

3. Don’t abbreviate every other word.

Abbreviations are common in casual texts, but you should be careful how often you use them. Common abbreviations like “LOL” (laugh out loud) and “np” (no problem) are safe choices. However, if you’re communicating with a new customer or acquaintance, take 30 extra seconds and type out each word.

Avoid informal shortcuts like “u” (you) and less common abbreviations like “SMH” (shaking my head) or “MFW” (my face when). Don’t leave your clients and colleagues confused; your texts should convey messages quickly and clearly.

4. Don’t text a last-minute cancellation.

There are a thousand reasons someone may miss a text message. Don’t depend on a quick note to cancel a meeting or change a lunch venue. For an important or time-sensitive message, pick up the phone.

5. Double-check the autocorrect.

Smart phones can occasionally be a little too smart. Autocorrect and voice-to-text features have a sneaky way of changing your intended message into something entirely different and often embarrassing. When using voice-to-text, ensure you’re in a quiet location. It picks up on background noise and may type a nearby conversation instead of what you’re saying.

What does your Biz Routine say about you

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/what-does-your-biz-routine-say-about-you

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/what-does-your-biz-routine-say-about-you#comments

Daily Mode of Operation

A Daily Mode of Operation is a must for anyone who is serious about building a home based business In this post I’d be telling you not just what a Daily Mode of Operation means, what it entails, but also how to go about setting up one that would work excellently for you.The truth is that things can really get very overwhelming on the web. I mean you get to your laptop to do some work and you see a very lovely link (it usually starts from facebook), you click on it and on and on you go on to another link till you see that you have not accomplished a lot of the things you set out to do online.

What is even more pathetic is that we claim there is not much time to do all of the things we want to do, yet the time we have is spent at unproductive activities which eventually make a lot of people feel guilty.

So I ask you what do you do when you first wake up Check your Emails on your phone or your recent news on Facebook? if your like me you check your Emails, Why? you ask cause at time people like myself are up at 4am online looking for different services the best so what do you do. Reply comments on facebook or an Email. You got it Email Why? cause if you start facebooking you will never get to that important email. The only time you should look at facebook is when you Promote or post a really important Status, For Example if your having a Workshop or you are part of a group or a Like page. I leave you with this click on the Pdf link print & fill it in how ever your mode of Operation is and if your not getting all your work done then take a step back and find out why you are not able to complete your work

Why You Need A Daily Mode of Operation

Without a Daily Mode of Operation, you WILL end up making a mess of your business efforts.

I was having a conversation with my friend who is seemingly frustrated online. He asked me if common people really make money from a home-based business or it's only the gurus that keep milking the poor guys.

He told me of how he had bought so many books and CD's and how he had read, listen and watch a truckloads of them.

I told her don't quit, I said matter of fact where did that get you He said nowhere I told him look at the where your'e at right now and tell yourself I am a director making $3,000 and just get to work start talking to everyone. NOW i have to tell you he talks to everyone every chance he get you can't shut him up. 6 months later i messaged him asked him how he was doing he said i am where you told me to be I said where are you she said Bronze making 3,000 a month I passed what i was suppose to be at. I said how did you do it, He said I went to work got into a Routine

If you have a lot of products that you have not used, you do not need a soothsayer to tell you that you are buying too much and that you should just stop buying and start using what you have.

For instance, what’s the purpose of a doctor buying medical instruments that he doesn’t use? That wouldn’t make sense to him, and it shouldn’t to you too.

Something I see lacking in many people just starting in the Home-based business circles is the lack of determination to get started and maintain a Daily Mode of Operation, where every one of their activities is hinged.

For instance, I know that I cannot be online for 24hrs. It’s not even recommended health-wise. I have a series of activities that I have jotted down somewhere in my pad (Yes, I still love the old-school pen and paper). They are activities I engage in on a daily basis. I do them every day. I train myself to stay consistent in doing them. Is it easy to stay consistent with them? No. But like I tell some of my friends, I’d rather do this now that I can and reap the rewards thereafter than leave my business to chance.

Then if while in the course of the day, I come across something I need to implement online, I make sure I pen it down and add it to my list for that particular day.

I know people who use Google calendar, and it works very well. You might want to try it out.

Key Points to Help Kickstart Your Daily Mode of Operation

1) The first thing is actually making out time to have a Daily Mode of Operation and commit to having one in the first place. How you will do this depends on how important your business is to you and what it is you are looking to achieve in your business.

2) Like Jim Rohn said, work more on yourself than on your business. That means you should constantly commit to personal development and continual appraisal of why you are doing what you are doing. For me, it has to do with watching my Mind movie at the start of the day and reading or continue reading a personal development book. I am currently reading ‘The Secret of the Millionaire Mind’ by Harv Eker. Lovely book!

3) If you are in Network Marketing like I am, you must get in touch with people as regards your business. Talk to people about your business using the principles of attraction marketing on facebook, skype ,etc. Or call your optin leads and build a relationship with them. What to say to them I wrote about in this post:

4) Produce at least one content daily, be it Facebook Note, Blog Post, Press Release, Article, Hubpage, Video, Slide Share, starting a forum thread in a place like BetterNetworker etc

5) A good advice will be for you to plan ahead the day before so you can give your brain work to do in the course of your sleep.

6) Don’t beat yourself up if you fail to keep up with your daily mode of operation. Learn to be flexible. What is not so great is you going an entire week without sticking to your schedule. Occasional lapses here and there is not the end of the world. For instance I have had days when there just was no internet access, days when my laptop suddenly malfunctioned. What do you do when something like that happens? So don’t beat yourself up. Okay?

7) Continually review your Daily Mode of Operation and make necessary adjustments to suit your circumstances and objectives. Remember you are not in competition with any one. Your goal should be to stick to your Daily Mode of Operation as consistently as possible.

Did you notice I did not advice you to go around tweeting a ton of tweets, or mention checking your email, or hanging out on facebook all day and commenting on all status updates you see on your home page? Spend your time on income-producing activities and I tell you result is a great motivator.

It’s your turn now. If you have a daily mode of operation, leave me a comment below and let me know how that is going for you. If you don’t have one, I would love to hear from you — leave me a comment below with any questions or thoughts.

If you love this post, kindly SHARE it on facebook, and TWEET it. But there were problems.

"Our first site didn't follow the standard design protocol of a good website," remembers Nelson, who is also a business-management consultant in Phoenix. "It was difficult to navigate; customers had to scroll all the way to the bottom of the homepage and then to the next page to find 'buy it now.'"

The brothers moved on to another developer, but their second e-commerce site didn't work well either, and they found it hard to get the tech team to respond quickly. "I think we paid under $7,000, but we had to redo it maybe six months later," Nelson says. "The second time it cost $15,000; we were happier with it, but we weren't ecstatic. Then we went to another company about a year later. We did three websites in one year. In the end, we'd done four websites in one and a half years before we got one that worked."

It might not be your website that ends up costing you dearly, but something will--it's the Murphy's Law of startups. There are a seemingly endless number of ways to spend money, and it's impossible to be wise about all of them. But a few common costly mistakes can sink a bootstrapped business. Here are six pitfalls to look out for, along with expert advice on how to avoid them.

Expensive mistake #1:The wrong team Bill Aulet, managing director of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship and author of Disciplined Entrepreneurship, says choosing the wrong team is the single costliest error entrepreneurs make, resulting in not only lost income and time but depleted morale.

"Choosing who to hire and work with in a startup is like playing basketball in the schoolyard; you can pick your friends and play for them, but if youwant to be good and continue to be on the court, you have to carefully pick your team," he explains.

It's crucial to choose people with varying skill sets. However, Aulet says, "much like a great sports team, they must also share some common values and the ability to trust each other in tough situations. That's why past experience working with your co-founders and early employees in stressful times is much more important than being friends."

Expensive mistake #2: Bad pricing"My single biggest mistake with my first business--a handbag company--was in pricing," says Sarah Shaw, CEO of Entreprenette, a consulting firm in Durango, Colo. Hers is a common misstep for product manufacturers.

Entreprenette's Sarah Shaw
"I didn't understand that with any kind of clothing or accessories, you have to calculate the square footage of fabric, including the wasted fabric," Shaw explains. Without an accurate understanding of her costs, she couldn't price her products correctly.

"I thought you sort of doubled everything, but that's not correct," she says. "It's a 2.5-times markup from cost to wholesale, which covers marketing, the showroom fee, all your expenses."

By the end of her first two years in business, Shaw had put in more than $100,000 of her own money. Thanks to perseverance and media buzz (celebrities loved her bags), she ended up with $1 million in annual revenue and attracted investors, but she couldn't recover from the downturn after 9/11 and closed the business in 2002.

Like Shaw, Tobin Booth, CEO of Blue Oak Energy, paid dearly for a pricing mistake. It occurred in 2010 when the California-based company, which engineers and constructs solar photovoltaic power systems, took on a contract to install solar units for a retail chain with stores in eight states.

"That was a level of complexity we had zero experience with, in a very competitive market," he says. "What we didn't understand across all these states were the tax consequences and how much variation there was in labor rates. Then there were delays because of weather and shipping."

The company, which also hadn't planned for project delays that led to incurring storage fees, lost about $500,000 in 2011. Booth says the miscalculation was one of the worst experiences he has been through as a business owner, but there were some positives: "The cliché is absolutely correct. The painful experiences are the ones you learn best from."

Expensive mistake #3: Waiting for perfect when good will doWhen you've got a killer idea, it's natural to want to introduce it to the world in a fully formed state. But it doesn't take a CPA to figure out that the longer you take to launch, the longer you go without money coming in.

"This is a common mistake, especially for tech people," says Drew Williams, co-author ofFeed the Startup Beast. "Many want to build an app and won't let it go until it's perfect, but then you take too long and spend too much." Specifically, this error will likely leave you with no "runway"--the cash you'll need to sustain you as you're trying to get your product off the ground once it's ready, but before you have customers.

"You need to come up with the simplest, basic version of your product that gets the idea across and try to find someone you can sell it to," Williams says. "Find one or two clients who are willing to do a pilot where you build, test and iterate it. Inevitably, your product will be different than what you expect, and then you build it. If you get a real, live client, you create a better product in a very cost-effective way."

Expensive mistake #4: Not understanding technologyMary Juetten was no Luddite when she launched Traklight, a software company that helps individuals and businesses identify and protect intellectual property, but she didn't know everything. "I understood how to lay out what our software would do ... but I didn't know anything about coding software or web development," says Juetten, a CPA and Canadian chartered accountant.

She relied on a co-founder with that expertise, but when that relationship ended, she floundered. "This is where I made my biggest mistake: I looked for the best deal, and I didn't educate myself about different programming languages or bring someone else into the mix."

The team she hired to create Traklight's software told her that it "couldn't" be built in one programming language and "had" to be built in another. "If someone designing my website came up to me and said, 'You should use this color instead of that color,' I'd be asking 17 questions about why," Juetten says. "But I never asked why about this, because it was technology."

The four-month window for software development turned into eight months, then nine more. "With technology, it's all about time to market," she says. "So entrepreneurs who are not technical should educate themselves."

Eventually Juetten took a "tech speak for entrepreneurs" class. She suggests other startup founders who need more expertise find similar instruction at Codecademy or General Assembly.

Expensive mistake #5: Skimping on attorneysBooth of Blue Oak Energy might like a do-over on pricing that multistate order, but he's also sorry about skimping on legal fees in his company's infancy.

"If I could do some of the early stuff over, it would have been to pay a few thousand dollars to have an attorney write up a proper contract," he says. "I didn't have the right attorney who really understood my business."

A few early customers simply didn't pay up, so Booth tried to move matters to a collections agency. "I found out that there were some clauses [in the contract] that didn't allow me to collect on attorneys' fees," says Booth, whose company now does nearly $20 million in annual revenue.

Shaw, meanwhile, unknowingly signed a contract that gave her handbag company the trademark to her name, so when investors came in, her name belonged to them. "I can't use my own name in business again," she says. "I wish I had hired an attorney to watch out for me."

Expensive mistake #6: Being cheap about marketing"People think, everyone else has to market their product or service, but I don't because this is so good," says author Williams. The related myth is that you can rely on social media to build virality and attract customers for free. "Social media is not free," he says. "To do it properly takes unbelievable amounts of time, and it'll typically take six months to a year before you've got even slight momentum--it's not fast."

If you're not sure how much money to budget for marketing, Williams suggests aiming for 10 to 20 percent of your targeted gross revenue. "As you become a more established business, that drops to 5 percent to 10 percent of gross revenue, and for the largest businesses it's typically 5 percent or a bit less," he says.

After launching Traklight, Juetten found that her website wasn't indexed properly for search engines. "No one was finding us," she recalls. So she decided to invest in an inbound marketing program. "That initial payment is scary for a small company, but we don't have to pay developers to make changes to our site, and they do e-mail marketing and CRM," she explains. So far it's working: In April 2013 the Traklight site recorded just 100 visits per month; by the end of the year it was getting 2,800.

How much does Juetten estimate she lost early on between the missteps in software development and inbound marketing? "As far as dollars thrown away--actual checks written for useless things--that would be in the tens of thousands," she admits. "As far as lost time [and] products not developed on time, it's in the hundreds of thousands. We would be much further ahead now."

In the end, the best way to avoid costly mistakes is obvious: Save and spend wisely. "Keep spending really, really tight," Williams advises. "Leverage everything you can and give yourself as long a runway as possible. You're going to need it."

Five habits even the best entrepreneurs are guilty & tips on how to fix them.

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/five-habits-even-the-best-entrepreneurs-are-guilty-tips-on-how-to-fix-them

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/five-habits-even-the-best-entrepreneurs-are-guilty-tips-on-how-to-fix-them#comments

5 bad Habbits

1. Bonus: You’ll have more time for the important stuff, like strategizing future growth.

  2. You change course every 10 minutes. Entrepreneurs generate new ideas as naturally as breathing but coming up with ideas and acting on them are two different things. If employees know you’ll tell them to drop everything for Plan A in the morning, then do a 180 to Plan X in the afternoon, they’ll stop taking you seriously (and likely get frustrated at going nowhere). Take time to think through your ideas, select the best ones and develop a plan for implementing them before setting your employees off on a wild goose chase.

  3. You email them at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning -- and expect an answer. Your business is the most important thing in your life. Reality is, though, it’s not the most important thing to your employees -- no matter how dedicated they are. And that’s okay. Giving them downtime to rest and recharge will keep them dedicated -- expecting them to work 24/7 will leave them burned-out husks.

  4. You don’t listen. Think about the last time you had a good idea and no one listened. Remember how that felt? Next time an employee ventures to offer a suggestion, listen -- really listen -- to what he or she has to say. Better yet, actively seek your team’s input. The next great idea just might come from them.

  5. You’re cheap. Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is the hallmark of an entrepreneur, and getting your business off the ground without a ton of capital requires pinching pennies. Incorporate these habits to become a more confident person today.

  1. Greet others with a smile and look them directly in the eye. A smile and direct eye contact convey confidence born of self-respect. In the same way, answer the phone pleasantly whether at work or at home, and when placing a call, give your name before asking to speak to the party you want to reach. Leading with your name underscores that a person with self-respect is making the call.

   2. Always show real appreciation for a gift or compliment. Don’t downplay or sidestep expressions of affection or honor from others. The ability to accept or receive is a universal mark of an individual with solid self-esteem.

   3. Don’t brag. It’s almost a paradox that genuine modesty is actually part of the capacity to gracefully receive compliments. People who brag about their exploits or demand special attention are simply trying to build themselves up in the eyes of others—and that’s because they don’t already perceive themselves as worthy of respect.

  4. Don’t make your problems the centerpiece of your conversation. Talk positively about your life and the progress you’re trying to make. Be aware of any negative thinking and take notice of how often you complain. When you hear yourself criticize someone—and this includes self-criticism—find a way to be helpful instead of critical.

   5. Respond to difficult times or depressing moments by increasing your level of productive activity. When your self-esteem is challenged, don’t sit around and fall victim to “paralysis by analysis.” The late Malcolm Forbes said, “Vehicles in motion use their generators to charge their own batteries. Unless you happen to be a golf cart, you can’t recharge your battery when you’re parked in the garage!”

   6. Choose to see mistakes and rejections as opportunities to learn. View a misstep as the conclusion of one performance, not the end of your entire career. Refuse to see yourself as a failure, though you must own up to your shortcomings. A failure may be something you have done—and it may even be something you’ll have to do again on the way to success—but a failure is definitely not something you are.

Even if you’re at a point where you’re feeling very negatively about yourself, be aware that you’re now ideally positioned to make rapid and dramatic improvement. A negative self-evaluation, if it’s honest and insightful, takes much more courage and character than the self-delusions that underlie arrogance and conceit. I’ve seen the truth of this proven many times in my work with athletes. After an extremely poor performance, a team or an individual athlete often does much better the next time out, especially when the poor performance was so bad that there was simply no way to shirk responsibility for it. Disappointment, defeat, and even apparent failure are in no way permanent conditions unless we choose to make them so. On the contrary, these undeniably painful experiences can be the solid foundation on which to build future success.

Your Life, Your Success

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/your-life-your-success

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/your-life-your-success#comments

your life your success

It's not about when; It's about what your going to do about your situation. I'm in the business of helping people make money and yet people have said they have no time to, but i guess you have time to complain about your problem, you should be spending more time on a solution then time on a problem. STOP SAYING YOU CAN'T....YOU CAN, BUT YOU CHOOSE NOT TO, THE MORE YOU REFUSE THE MORE YOU LOSE Don't wait til Tomorrow take action today If you don't know where you're going you just might [...]

It's not about when; It's about what your going to do about your situation. I'm in the business of helping people make money and yet people have said they have no time to, but i guess you have time to complain about your problem, you should be spending more time on a solution then time on a problem. STOP SAYING YOU CAN'T....YOU CAN, BUT YOU CHOOSE NOT TO, THE MORE YOU REFUSE THE MORE YOU LOSE

Don't wait til Tomorrow take action today

If you don't know where you're going you just might end up somewhere Else. They don't believe in asking for help and when you see them or hear the complaining about their problems their bills are to much and we give them the opportunity to make money then they just don't believe in themselves. They need someone who has been given the same opportunity and is doing it.

Key # 2 - Knowledge

You have heard the term "Knowledge is power" or "Knowledge is now here" my question is if you love to do something and you have so much knowledge about something and you don't put it to use than what are you doing with that knowledge NOTHING. For example my dad has so much Knowledge about real Estate for over the last few months he has been sitting down with my aunt and they have been studying my dad goes to the Robert Kiyosaki seminars and other real estate seminars. He has all this Knowledge but won't do anything with it, he told me He is scared of the large numbers. Now how do we get past being scared to using the knowledge we have, Simple you ready Hear it is get ready JUST DO IT

Key # 3 - Action

Eric Thomas Stated in a video "if you want to succeed as bad as you want to breath you will be successful" To many people sit and wait for an opportunity to fall right into their lap but they have it they scared to act on it. Share it with people take action you may be afraid the first couple times that you mess up that's ok you learn by your mistakes you grow by making mistakes. It's Like riding a bike you fall down scrap your knee you get up you hurt your afraid to fall again so you find away not to fall. Then you fall again same knee you hurting and now your determined to learn how to ride this bike sooner or later you cruising down the street it gets easier and easier....Eric Thomas Said "Pain will last for a moment a month year but it if I fail to try it will last forever." If you want something so bad go out and get it stop waiting cause it won't come to you. It doesn't matter what you are facing...a lost relationship, job, bankruptcy, foreclosure, health challenge, or financial situation. You have the power in you to recreate it all over again from scratch. It does not matter how old you are. Don't beat yourself up. It's natural to feel sorry for yourself, or feel frightened and want to give up. It doesn't even matter if the people that you thought would have your back have deserted you. You are still breathing. You're still here, and you have the power to win.

You are more powerful than you think you are. Remind yourself of this. Stand up within yourself. Giving up is not who I am. I will stay the course, and persist until I succeed." You might have to do this while down on your knees, praying, crying, and screaming at the top of your lungs. Just let them know they are important.

   Don’t Forget Current Customers

We’ve all heard the old adage that it’s easier to keep an existing customer than win a new one. But it may also be worth going through your list of older inactive customers and trying to reactivate a few of the better ones. Give them a call, tell them you value them, ask what it will take to get them back. You might be surprised at how simple or low-cost it is. If they say no thanks, consider it a learning opportunity and wish them the best. Then call them back in a year and ask again.

Advertise on Yourself Make some simple t-shirts with your company name and website on them, wear them around town

Advertise on Someone Else Check out guys like iwearyourshirt.com for a fun, creative, and relatively cheap way to get your company seen.

Add your Business to a Review Site Adding your business to a review site such as Feedback Jar can help put you in touch with customers.

Email Signature Use every email as a way to promote yourself and your business.

Social Networks There is a social network for every niche. Join one and start networking.

Leave Biz Cards You’ve followed #7 above, now don’t just leave those cards in your pocket! Give them out, to anyone, everywhere. Heck, just leave them laying around, or in library books, or anywhere your customers may see them.

Postcards on Windshields Easy and cheap to print, place them under windshields at parking lots. That takes me to my next topic

3. Be Creative - Find what type of crowed you want to pull in to look at what you doing, think of ways to get peoples attention. Here's some Ideas Flyers, Promotional items, Website, Network with other People. Remember "ABLE" (Always Be Learning everyday) find ways to get your name or skills promoted by other people

4. Just do it - Forget what others will think always remember you have accomplished something they may not be able to do. People will say negative things about you or your skill that you have. I tell people that say negative things about what I do, I always ask What have you accomplished that took pain heartache and many hours. I wait for their answer and they normally don't say anything. So just Keep going no matter what happens (Rocky Balboa Stated) " It's not about hard you get hit its about how hard you can take a hit and keep going" so with that said When People talk negative about you thank them for thinking of you and your work and remember "JUST DO IT"

Life's Lessons

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/lifes-lessons

https://www.lilsaintproductions.com/bizblog/lifes-lessons#comments

Life's Lessons

I've learned that you can't make someone love you. The rest is up to them.

I've learned that no matter how much i care some people just don't care back.

I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned that it takes years to build trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

I’ve learned that it's not what you have in your life, but whom you have in your life that counts.

I've learned that we are responsible for what we do no matter how we feel.

I've learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry i have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I've learned that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you have learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you have celebrated.

I've learned that two people can look at the exact same two things and see something totally different.

I've learned that no matter how good a friend is they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I've learned that it isn't enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to forgive yourself.

I've learned that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other...and just because they argue ,it don't mean they do

I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop at your grief.

I've learned that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.

I've learned that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few Things are more humiliating and what a tragedy it would be it they believed it.

I've learned that hero's are people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done regardless of the consequences.

I've learned that you can keep going long after you can't
